Jannie was appointed to a post at St Thomas’ Hospital pain

management clinic in 1999 where he worked as clinical lead for a

number of years.

He has a background in health psychology and cognitive-behavioural therapy but has pursued his specialist field of interest the management of chronic pain for the last 12 years. His experience includes working with all types of pain both in the secondary care setting in a large teaching hospital, and in the private sector.

In 2004 he joined The RealHealth Institute as lead psychologist and led the clinical team at the Institute for nearly 6 years. His role at the Institute combined a clinical role involving both the assessment and treatment of persons with persistent pain. Jannie’s knowledge and understanding of pain now put him in great demand on the lecture circuit, and he has contributed to numerous scientific meetings and symposiums.

He has contributed to research, chapters and studies over the years, and continues to be engaged in such activities.
