About Kay Kelly

Kay is a partner and heads the clinical/medical negligence team.  She is a member of the Accredited Law Society Clinical Negligence Panel. She has over 20 years post qualification experience and now solely specialises in clinical negligence cases on behalf of patients and their families at Lanyon Bowdler.  Kay has extensive experience in the field to include cerebral palsy and catastrophic brain injury cases, obstetric and paediatric cases, cosmetic surgery errors, claims arising from negligently performed surgery including cholecystectomies, sterilisations, vascular surgery, neurological surgery and hip & knee replacements.  Kay also has considerable experience in dealing with cases involving ophthalmic negligence including failure to diagnose glaucoma, delay in diagnosis of cancer cases, diagnostic and treatment errors by GP and hospital, cases involving spinal cord injuries and upper & lower limb amputation and fatal accident cases including representation at inquests.


Kay is known for her commitment to ensure that her clients get access to justice, and she has a thorough and forensic approach with an ability to "turn a case around" and maximise damages.  She is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers and a recognised Senior Litigator and the firm's representative at the Society of Clinical Injury Solicitors.


Kay is recognised by the 2017 edition of The Legal 500, where the clinical negligence team is recognised as a tier one team in the West Midlands. The directory states that the team 'put their clients' interests at the centre of their work'.
