Damages (Return on Investment) Bill
Legislation has been introduced into the Northern Ireland Assembly which would change how the personal injury discount rate is set in Northern Ireland. The Damages (Return on Investment) Bill, introduced by justice minister Naomi Long, intends to move Northern Ireland away from Wells v Wells. Instead, the Department of Justice wants Northern Ireland to adopt a framework similar to the one used in Scotland to set the discount rate.
