Police investigation into Road Traffic Collisions
Luke Heming
Luke Heming, Traffic Management Officer within the Roads and Transport Policing Command, will be delivering a presentation on the collision investigation process carried out by the Metropolitan Police. He will outline the different approaches taken by the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) and by the other officers, depending on the seriousness of the collision. He will explain how officers’ time is spent at the scene, how evidence is gathered and recorded and the volume of work that is carried out. He will also consider police data and its accuracy.
Brake's National Road Victim Service
Laura Challis
Laura Challis, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Brake, will provide an overview of the National Road Victim Service (NRVS) that is run by Brake, the road safety charity. She will explain how the charity provides support through the NRVS after a loved one is killed or seriously injured in a road crash.
