About Alison Hills
Alison is an experienced Solicitor-Advocate having achieved her Higher Rights of Audience for civil proceedings.
As a Law Society Accredited mental health specialist, she has developed a niche in cases involving both elements of clinical negligence and mental health. This has included cases involving failed community care resulting in suicide and catastrophic injury.
She also has vast experience with a variety of medical negligence cases including the following:
- Delayed cancer diagnosis
- Bowel and uterus surgical perforations
- Obstetric and Gynaecological injury
- Negligent Orthopaedic Surgery resulting in permanent disability
- Sepsis claims resulting in multiple limb amputation
- Fatal medical accidents
- Ophthalmic injury resulting in permanent loss of vision
She has also assisted on birth injury cases of high complexity leading to Cerebral Palsy and Erb’s Palsy (with a value of up to £20m)
In addition to this, she has also dealt with some highly complex matters involving homicide enquiries and elements of public law (One of the cases she had heavy involvement with in the past- (Henderson v Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust) is a landmark case which has now been taken to the Supreme Court concerning the application of the doctrine of illegality in tort law cases).
Outside of work, she is a keen ski racer. She is part of the British Masters Ski Team and was placed 2nd overall in her age group in the FIS Masters World Cup series for the 2019-2020 season. She is also a keen runner, having competed in a number of events from 5k up to full marathon distance and is also an England Athletics qualified run leader.
