About Emma Broomfield
Emma is a Partner and experienced solicitor with over 20 years specialist experience in clinical negligence and personal injury litigation. She qualified as a solicitor in 1991 after gaining her law degree from Cambridge University in 1988 and joined Lanyon Bowdler’s clinical negligence department in 2003.
Emma is an accredited member of both the Law Society’s Clinical Negligence Panel and the AvMA spcialist clinical negligence panel, as well as a Senior Litigator with the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL). She has wide ranging experience having acted for Claimants with cerebral palsy, catastrophic brain injury, spinal injury, cancer and amputees as well as on a wide range of cases involving misdiagnosis, inadequate treatment and surgical error. She also has experience of handling fatal claims and advising on all aspects of Inquests.
Through her work for clients who have sustained serious injury as a result of medical negligence, Emma has assisted clients in obtaining suitable accommodation and establishing care packages with case management input, securing substantial interim payments to fund these when needed.
The 2022 edition of The Legal 500 recognises Emma as a Recommended Lawyer and a Next Generation Partner and the 2022 Chambers UK edition has Emma ranked in Band 1 and notes 'Emma Broomfield advises clients on delayed diagnosis and treatment cases as well as surgical error claims. She has further experience handling obstetric negligence cases.
