James is a Partner and Head of the Asbestos Litigation Team at GA Solicitors in Plymouth. James is one of the South West's leading asbestos and industrial disease litigators, renowned particularly for his expertise and success in high value asbestos claims which he has dealt with since the mid-90’s. His years of experience dealing with mesothelioma cases is recognised on a national basis. Many of James' clients have been exposed to asbestos at Dockyards including Devonport, Portsmouth and Chatham.  He also has a strong reputation for industrial deafness litigation and has recovered significant damages in public and employer liability cases.

James is a member of the Law Society Personal Injury Panel.  He is also accreditated as an Asbestos Disease and Occupational Disease Specialist with the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) of which he was the second in the country to be appointed.  James has also been appointed as a national assessor to support the APIL asbestos and occupational disease accreditation scheme. He has also been awarded the acclaimed Fellow status by APIL and an active participant of the South West Mesothelioma Support Group.

James is President of the Plymouth Law Society in 2020 coupling his position as Treasurer which he has held over the last 10 years.

Outside of work James is a keen sportsman. He plays football on a weekly basis and is struggling with his 8 handicap at golf. He is also a regular at Plymouth Argyle optimistically dreaming of seeing his team play in the Premiership.
