About Jane Weakley
Jane Weakley is a Partner in Fieldfisher's Medical Negligence team. She has more than 25 years' experience in medical law, specialising in the interests and rights of birth-injured children - particularly those affected with catastrophic injuries where compensation awards are very high to ensure provision for their future needs.
In 2018, Jane agreed settlement for a 15-year-old boy with cerebral palsy and complex cognitive and behavioural needs to the value of £33 million; the award being one of the largest of its kind and the largest ever for a teenager. In 2019, she negotiated settlement for a 7-year-old boy with severe behavioural problems, autism and ADHD to the value of £30 million.
Her cases regularly receive media interest. Jane has been quoted in the national and local press and interviewed on national TV and radio. In 2018, she appeared on BBC2's Victoria Derbyshire Show with a client who spoke about cerebral palsy via eye-gaze technology.
Jane lectures on best practice in obstetric cases and presents to the Trust for Children with Brain Injury (Surrey), Chailey Heritage School (East Sussex) and SCOPE (London).
Jane is a Law Society accredited Clinical Negligence Specialist, a member of the AvMA Specialist Clinical Negligence Panel and an APIL Fellow.
