Janine Collier, Executive Partner, Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury
How can I help you?
I have been practising medical negligence since qualification in 2001 and I am the Head of the Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury Team at Tees.
My experience includes birth defects and unintended pregnancies (wrongful birth claims); birth injuries to the child, including cerebral palsy; birth injuries to the mother; brain injuries; deaths; DVTs and pulmonary emboli; substandard general practice care; orthopaedic claims; surgical errors and tuberculosis.
Delivering what you really need
Latterly, I have sub-specialised in cases involving:
- birth injuries to the child (cerebral palsy);
- birth injuries to the mother (obstetric anal sphincter injuries (OASIS));
- adult brain injuries (in particular cases involving delays in diagnosing a brain tumour and strokes); and
- a fatality, where there are a number of surviving dependants
My sub-specialist skill and both medical and legal knowledge in this area enable me to rapidly identify the issues in the cases; to work alongside the leading medical experts in the fields; and to achieve excellent outcomes for clients. I am referred such cases by Counsel; and have taken on a number of cases from other solicitors.
Adult brain injuries (Delay in diagnosing a brain tumour)
A number of my clients have suffered an acquired brain injury as a consequence of a delay in diagnosing a brain tumour.
My expertise and experience in this area, combined with access to the leading medical experts in the field enables me not only to understand the difficult medical and legal issues in the case and to achieve the best possible outcomes for clients, but also to anticipate the need for and to provide appropriate help and support to clients pending resolution of the litigation. This may include access to financial advice and support, case management, rehabilitation etc..
Adult Brain injuries (Stroke)
Many of my clients have suffered a stroke as a consequence of sub-standard medical treatment.
Having handled a large number of cases involving strokes over the years, I have developed sub-specialist expertise and factual, conceptual, procedural and strategic knowledge of how to approach these types of cases. Working in Partnership with some of the leading medical and rehabilitation experts in the field, I am able to source appropriate help and support for clients pending resolution of the litigation, including access to financial advice and support, case management, rehabilitation etc..
I have been handling fatal accident claims for many years and have run a number of complex cases involving many dependants. I understand the psychological impact and the practical impact of a fatality and am able to source help and support where required pending resolution of the legal claim.
What do others say?
In previous editions of the Legal 500 I have been described as ‘meticulous and devoted to the welfare of [her]… client’, ‘clever and extremely thorough’ and ‘compassionate and dedicated’.
