About Jerard Knott
Jerard is specialist Clinical Negligence and Catastrophic Injury Solicitor at Serious Law LLP. Jerard is accredited by APIL as a Senior Litigator and as a Clinical Negligence Specialist.
Since 2018 he has been APIL's Clinical Negligence Special Interest Group Coordinator (having been the Group secretary in 2017). Jerard is a member of a number of APIL's working parties and is also part of the Clinical Negligence Annual Conference Organising Committee.
Most of his instructions tend to be in respect of birth, brain, ophthalmic and spinal injuries. He is also regularly instructed in respect of Inquests, neonatal deaths and stillbirths.
He has in the last few years become a firm advocate of mediation in clinical negligence and contributed to the mediation article in PI Focus in June 2020.
Recently concluded cases include:
* An incomplete tetraplegia case following a road traffic accident with capitalised value exceeding £10 Million.
* Failure to diagnose an ophthalmic injury (£240,000)
* Wrong site urological surgery (£145,000).
Jerard also has experience in relation to Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome cases and Clinical Product claims.
His most unusual past instruction was in respect of a drowning accident in Florida, which invoked umbrella insurance considerations, and settled for US$ 2 Million.

In March 2020 Jerard released his first training seminar on Stillbirths for MBL Seminars.
