About John Michael Imperato
Michael has been acting for claimants for over 20 years. He has been a partner at large national firms, small rural firms, and is currently a partner at Watkins & Gunn, an innovative high street firm in South Wales.
Michael is recognised as a leader in the field in claimant personal injury work acting in a variety of cases for individuals and union members. He is the author of the chapter on Sports Personal Injury for the APIL/Lexis Nexis publication, ‘Personal Injury, Law, Practice and Precedents.’ He is a Fellow of APIL and for a number of years was the APIL coordinator for Wales,
Michael also heads the Public/Administrative law department at Watkins and Gunn and has undertaken a number of high profile claimant judicial review challenges. These have been mainly in respect of education law and also closures of local hospitals, schools, and libraries, acing for communities challenging local and national government.
Michael is a former president of the Cardiff & District Law Society, a member of the Law Society Civil Justice Committee, a Vice Chair of the Legal Aid Agency Special Controls Review Panel, and a visiting scholar to Swansea University. He is a longstanding school governor and a trustee of several charities.
Michael is a passionate advocate for the rights of personal injury victims and their representatives.
