About Katie Warner
I qualified as a solicitor in 2008 and have practiced exclusively in medical negligence since qualification. I am an APIL Accredited Senior Litigator.
My caseload is varied and in addition to acting on obstetric cases involving birth injuries, maternal injuries and still birth, I act for patients and their families who are seeking answers in relation to:
(1) Delays in diagnosis and treatment
(2) Failure to obtain appropriate consent
(3) Substandard surgery
(4) Substandard follow up to surgery
I also help families who have lost loved ones as a result of substandard treatment and/or management.
I chose a career in law because I wanted to help people and make a real difference. More specifically, I chose medical negligence because I am passionate about improving standards and patient safety; I believe that everyone accessing healthcare should receive the best care available and clinicians should be appropriately supported to deliver it.
Working in medical negligence, I frequently deal with people who feel let down by clinicians they trusted and who have not been given adequate explanations about the treatment they have received. One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is being able to secure answers and explanations for my clients so that they can understand and come to terms with what happened to them or their loved ones.
I understand that bringing a claim can be a very daunting prospect and for the majority of my clients, it is more about getting answers rather than compensation. I find being part of this process both challenging and rewarding.
