About Michelle Thomson
I qualified as a Registered Adult General Nurse in 1996. I worked mainly in the field of peri-operative practice and became an Orthopaedic Theatre Sister within the Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in 2003. I completed a Ba Hons in Nursing Practice in 2006 and left nursing to work in the field of medical law at Irwin Mitchell Solicitors in 2006.
Since 2006 I have worked within the Medical Law and Patient's Rights Team within the Newcastle office of Irwin Mitchell LLP and gained a wealth of experience in all aspects of medical law. I completed the Graduate Diploma in Law in March 2014 attaining a Commedation. I secured a training contract with Irwin Mitchell LLP, which commenced in August 2014. I completed the LPC with Distinction at the University of Law in July 2016. I was awarded an upper class Bachelor of Laws LL.B in July 2016.
I qualified as a solicitor on 1 September 2016 and worked in the Medical Law and Patient's Rights Team in the Newcastle Office of Irwin Mitchell LLP until August 2021. I have a wealth of experience in medical law. In particular, orthopaedics, general surgery, gynaecology and nursing issues such as pressure sores. I have also assisted on a number of birth injury claims.
I currently work at Browell, Smith and Co in the Clinical Negligence Department as an Associate Solicitor. I am an accredited member of APIL and have attained the status of Senior Litigator.
