About Rachel Hedley (nee Cooper)

I started in the Serious Injury team at Irwin Mitchell as a Paralegal specialising in Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Spinal Cord Injuries in 2013.  I qualified as a Solicitor in March 2018 after undertaking by training gaining experience in Clinical Negligence and Public Law & Human Rights.  I recently succesfully completed my Higher Rights Qualification and am therefore now a Solicitor Aovcate.  This enables me to provide a full service and represent clients in the higher courts.  

During my time in the serious injury team, I have represented clients who have been seriously injured in road traffic accidents, accidents at work and accidents in public places. 

I have attended 4 Liability trials where we have secured positive outcomes for our clients, ensuring that they could fund the specialist, bespoke rehabiltiation they required.

The most important part of my role is looking to secure early interim payments.  These allow clients to access rehabilitation as soon as possible after sustaining life-changing injuries.  Rehabilitation is key and I never underestimate the important of getting this in early to help people rebuild their lives.

Away from the office, I have a troublesome Cocker Spaniel named Sweep who keeps me on my toes! I also enjoy playing Netball and am captain of the Irwin Mitchell Netball Team; IM Ladies. 

I love travelling and my favourite destination so far is Singapore.
