Steve Woodley

Partner – Wyvern Partnership LLP, Devizes

Steve is a Chartered Architectural Technologist with a range of experience in residential and commercial buildings. He has specialised in Designing for the Disabled since 1989. This includes both adaptations to existing dwellings and purpose-built properties.

Steve is an Expert Witness in the High Court on the accommodation needs of seriously disabled people who are seeking compensation and damages for their injuries. He acts as a Single Joint Expert and works for both Claimants and Defendants. His work involves the preparation of reports for cases in the UK and abroad. Steve has also worked with Solicitors in the United States of America for clients living in the United Kingdom. The needs to be considered in these reports have ranged from minor injuries to severe spinal injuries, cerebral palsy, visual impairment, and amputees and involve personal injury and clinical negligence claims. His expertise includes presenting oral evidence in Court and preparation of Joint Statements.

Steve regularly delivers lectures on the accommodation needs of people with disabilities and the process of expert witness evidence to various Barristers, Law Firms, Case Managers, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists as well as the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA), the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and The Personal Injury Bar Association (PIBA).

On a day-to-day basis, Steve is actively involved with the procurement of accommodation and the design and implementation of alterations to accommodation for people with disabilities. He also acts as contract administrator for adaptations, alterations, and new build accommodation. Steve has extensive experience in the preparation of working drawings, specifications and building contracts and cost analysis.
