Jatinder is a Partner and head of the group illness team within the market leading international serious injury department at Irwin Mitchell LLP. He has significant experience of handling complex and high-value international serious illness and injury claims including a complex claim which is likely to be the highest valued gastric illness claim ever in the UK.
He currently acts for a young boy who contracted E.Coli-0157 on holiday in Egypt in November 2016 and then developed a serious renal injury. The claim is currently pleaded at over £1 million and liability has recently been conceded. This is alongside dealing with complex detailed assessment of costs and cases which have reached the Court of Appeal and some of the largest group action claims of their kind.
Jatinder also leads on the Cape Verde group actions from the summer of 2022 where the firm acts for over 700 holidaymakers following holidays ruined by illness. Jatinder also acts for over 100 holidaymakers whose holidays were ruined this year following holidays at a Turkish hotel, the Rixos Sungate, and over 50 holidaymakers who contracted bacterial infections at the Aqua Mirage Hotel in Marrakesh in October 2022.
Jatinder specialises in serious injury claims arising from food poisoning both in the UK and abroad, in addition to those relating to fatalities arising from legionnaire’s disease and Listeria which often result in substantial awards of compensation. These cases often have difficult liability and quantum issues and regularly attract significant national media coverage.
He is an APIL accredited Fellow and an APIL accidents and illnesses abroad specialist. Jatinder is co-ordinator of APIL’s specialist international group. Jatinder is also a trustee of GAIN, a charity who supports individuals with neuropathy conditions.
