Jack Ridgway

Bolt Burdon Kemp, London

Jack is an experienced Senior Associate Costs Lawyer at Bolt Burdon Kemp, having previously gained experience at two leading national costs firms acting for both receiving parties and paying parties, before joining the firm in March 2015.

He regularly undertakes advocacy in the High Court of Justice and County Courts; at Costs and Case Management Conferences (CCMC), Applications, Oral Reviews of provisional assessment and Detailed Assessments. He has also appeared on appeal in the King’s Bench Division and County Court.

During his several years in practice, Jack has gained experience in a wide range of costs claims, focussing now on the firm’s core areas of work including abuse, clinical negligence, military claims, and personal injury cases, but also extending to commercial litigation, Court of Protection, design rights, international disputes, patent disputes, probate and Solicitor and Own Client assessments. The wide range of clients and matters Jack has been exposed to provide the perspective required to tailor his approach and strategy to meet his client’s needs.

Jack is well versed in the preparation of Precedent H forms, bills of costs, points of dispute, replies and skeleton arguments (including for appeal).  He also undertakes practice/project management, costs training, and auditing.

Jack is the current Chairman of the Association of Costs Lawyers, the representative body and regulator of last resort, for Costs lawyers, having previously been an Ordinary Council Member and a Director of the company responsible for training all Costs Lawyers nationally.

He regularly writes on costs-related issues for Thomson Reuters and New Law Journal, as well as The Law Gazette and the national press.
