Rachel Seddon

Rachel is a Senior Associate Solicitor and APIL Accredited Senior Litigator. She is experienced in cases involving catastrophic injury, illness and medical negligence and is predominantly instructed in cases involving the Ministry of Defence.

She has a particular interest in the more unusual cases and complex liability disputes. She has represented numerous military personnel and veterans in civil court proceedings for loss of career or financial dependency following death or medical discharge and she has helped many injured personnel and veterans access rehabilitation, and aids and equipment, after being seriously injured during training or after an assault.

Notable cases

  • Acting for a former soldier following a traumatic amputation and resultant medical discharge and negotiating a seven-figure out of court settlement package which included a range of prosthetics and a substantial award to compensate for future loss of earnings and pension.
  • Representing the family and dependants of a soldier tragically killed when the Snatch Land Rover in which he was travelling did not withstand an IED blast in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. Whilst the Defendant, Ministry of Defence, maintained it had a complete defence to the civil breach of duty and human rights claims presented, settlement was favourably negotiated and approved by the High Court.
