Mike Barrett

I am the lead trauma Consultant for the major trauma service and a consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge University Hospitals. I am one of seven orthopaedic consultants with a specialist interest in complex trauma. I am one of four major trauma service consultants treating multiple injured patients. My areas of specialist interest are foot and ankle, open fractures, major trauma (multiply injured patients), complex lower limb trauma, bone infection and amputations. I have completed a OOPT fellowship in major trauma and limb reconstruction at the Royal London Hospital and fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital. I am the expert advisor to the British Medical Journal for trauma and orthopaedics. I have a significant interest in education and I have founded one of the UKs largest digital education platforms for orthopaedic surgeons www.orthohub.xyz. I am an invited faculty on the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society course for new consultants.

Medico-legal Experience I undertake 100 personal injury reports per year. I accept instructions for foot and ankle trauma, amputations, complex lower limb injuries, soft tissue and sports injuries of the foot and ankle, patients who have sustained multiple injuries, post traumatic complications including arthritis and infection, road traffic and industrial accidents. I am on the consultant orthopaedic oncall and regularly treat, as well as report on patients sustaining single limb injuries.
