Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon, Royal London Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust
Mr Taff Edwards is a fellowship trained Trauma and Orthopaedic surgeon with an interest in routine and trauma upper limb surgery.
Mr Edwards is currently a Consultant Surgeon at the Royal London Hospital, a Major Trauma Centre where he offers outstanding care to severely injured patients as well as an elective service in Hand, Wrist and Elbow surgery. He is currently the Clinical Director for Trauma, Orthopaedics and Plastics Surgery and Clinical Lead for Hand Surgery at Barts Health NHS Trust.
His background extends from experience and training at the DGH and Trauma Centre Level, and has undertaken the yearlong prestigious British Society of Surgery to the Hand (BSSH) Advanced Training Fellowship based at Wrightington hospital where he specialised in wrist/hand surgery, hand/wrist/elbow sports injuries, complex elbow reconstruction and peripheral nerve injury.
Mr Edwards has an extensive background in numerous local and international hospitals where he practised in Major Trauma, Orthopaedics, Plastic Surgery, Emergency Medicine, including trauma hospitals in Iraq and Afghanistan. He studied for his research Doctorate at Imperial College London from 2014 to 2016 for which he was awarded The Alexander Medal Presented by Prince Richard, the Duke of Gloucester; The Premier Award of the British Army medical services for professional work of outstanding merit. He has recently retired from the British Army after 21 years of Regular service.
He is a Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London on the Master in Trauma course. His professional knowledge and skills are constantly kept up to date and is reflected in his recent publications and book contribution, notably an author for the latest edition of Grays Anatomy (2025).
Taff has been working as a Medico-Legal expert since 2017. His main area of expertise are complex/major trauma and amputation, upper limb injuries, upper limb peripheral nerve injuries and Elective Hand, Wrist and Elbow surgery.
