Alternative Dispute Resolution, the Latest CPR Requirements and What It Means For You

APIL CPD:
All levels - 1 hour

(Please note that the number of CPD hours may be subject to change)

Join Brett Dixon, past Civil Procedure Rule Committee member, current sole legal expert member of the Online Procedure Rule Committee and member of the Civil Justice Council Pre Action Protocol main working group to consider the latest CPR changes in relation to ADR following Churchill v Merthyr Tydfil and the CPRC consultation on ADR.

The judgment of the Master of the Rolls in Churchill changed the approach of the courts to ADR. Following that we have seen so called Churchill orders being made on an ad-hoc basis in some cases compelling the parties to undertake ADR.

We now have a suite of rule changes that have been made in order to standardise the approach of courts to the use of ADR.

This webinar will provide you with the knowledge to understand:

  • What is happening at the moment in the courts in relation to ADR
  • How the changes came about
  • What the changes are
  • How to adapt your approach to address them
  • When they will come into force
  • What other strands of reform will come next
