About Michael Williamson
Founder of niche Somerset law firm, Williamsons, Michael has three decades of experience primarily as a commercial litigation and dispute resolution lawyer. A veteran of the early Costs Wars, he was involved in many battles generated by the 2000 Regulations. Sir Henry Brooke described him as “the admirable solicitor from Crewkerne” at the opening of the CFA Test Cases in March 2003.
“Admirable” - as a number of close friends then took to calling him - trained with Clarke Willmott & Clarke (as it then was) before becoming a partner in 1991. In 1998 he joined two others from CW to form the Stokes Partnership where he was managing partner for the next 11 years before setting up on his own account in late 2009.
An APIL Senior Litigator, Michael is committed to the cause of claimants in personal injury cases. Often an outspoken critic of insurers within his Legalchap blog, he has written a number of articles on related subjects for industry journals. Away from the trenches, Michael spends as much time as he can at home with the family in the home and garden or playing bows and arrows at his archery club. Occasionally he finds time to enjoy a quick half with friends and perhaps a curry.
