APIL soft skills workshops 2025 - Developing essential communications skills

The ability to communicate well is a fundamental requirement for being an excellent PI lawyer. It will help you to be more productive, and is a foundation for delivering good service to clients and working effectively as part of a team.

This session is suited to any PI lawyer, particularly early in their career, who wants to become a better communicator.

Following the webinar, you can expect to understand what it means to be an effective communicator and you will have some actionable tips to help you develop your communication skills to an advanced level.

In particular, this webinar will include:

  • Understanding why good communication is critical to success for lawyers, and an essential element of your continuing competence
  • The importance of listening, and some simple ways to become a better listener
  • How to choose the best method of communication to match the circumstances and why, despite its advantages, communicating in writing is sometimes not enough
  • Dealing confidently with questions, even when you don’t know the answer
  • Steps to improve your communications skills in practice
  • To ensure all your staff gets the best engagement with the presentation we highly recommend you ask them to switch on their cameras
